Over 2 Crore Digital Farmer IDs Created; Target Set for 11 Crore by 2026-27

13 February 2025, New Delhi: As per data accessed by Krishak Jagat, over 2 crore digital farmer IDs have been created in India as of February 7, 2024. The government aims to generate 11 crore farmer IDs by 2026-27, integrating digital identities for farmers across all North Eastern states. This initiative is a crucial step in digitizing the agricultural sector, ensuring better access to government schemes, financial services, and precision farming techniques for Indian farmers.

The Digital Crop Survey (DCS), which aims to streamline data collection on agricultural land holdings and cropping patterns, has surpassed its target for Kharif 2024. While the initial target was to conduct the survey in 400 districts, it was successfully carried out in 461 districts across the country.

A key component of AgriStack, the State Registry, has been developed with a federated architecture, ensuring that the ownership of data remains with the respective states. This system adheres to the privacy standards set by the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023. The Farmer Database currently includes all landholding farmers, including women farmers, across India. Additionally, the Farmers Registry application provides the option to onboard tenant and lessee farmers, allowing states to include them based on their respective policies. Land records, including inheritance and transactions, are updated by state governments.

The state-wise details of the Digital Crop Survey for Kharif 2024 are as follows:
