NIRF 2024: Pusa Institute Tops Agricultural Rankings Again in 2024
16 August 2024, New Delhi: The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), commonly known as the Pusa Institute and a key player in India’s Green Revolution, has once again secured the top spot in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for 2024 under the Agriculture and Allied Sectors category.
The ninth edition of the NIRF rankings was announced on August 12, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam. The prestigious certificate and memento were presented by Dharmendra Pradhan, Cabinet Minister of Human Resource Development.
Over the years, participation in these rankings has surged, with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) increasing from 3,565 in 2016 to 10,845 in 2024. The categories and subjects assessed have also expanded from just four in 2016 to sixteen in 2024.
This year, IARI New Delhi participated in four categories: Overall, Research, Innovation, and Agriculture and Allied Sectors. Impressively, IARI maintained its first-place ranking in the Agriculture and Allied Sectors for the second year in a row. In the other three categories, IARI ranked among the top 50 institutions.
IARI’s commitment to excellence in agricultural research, education, and outreach remains strong. The institute is on track to become a global university, offering undergraduate programs in four fields: Agriculture, Community Science, B.Tech (Engineering), and B.Tech (Biotechnology). In line with the New Education Policy 2020, plans are underway to launch several diploma and certificate courses focusing on vocational education.
