Achievements under National Mission on Oilseeds and Oil Palm

23 July 2021, New Delhi: Under the NFSM (Oilseeds), Government of India has set up 36 oilseeds seed hubs during 2018-19 and 2019-20 with an objective to increase the availability of high yielding quality seed. The crop and state under different Seed hubs are given below:

Under NFSM –Oilseeds & Oil Palm assistance is being provided for training of farmers and extension officials through States, ICAR/SAUs/KVKs @ Rs.24000/- per training of 2 days for 30 farmers and @ Rs.36000/- per training of 2 days for 20  extension officials.

NFSM-Oilseeds: The Government of India is promoting the production and productivity of oilseeds through the National Food Security Mission (Oilseeds) in all districts of India. Under this scheme, interventions such as purchase of breeder seeds, production of foundation and certified seed, distribution of certified seeds and seed minikits of latest high yielding varieties are undertaken. For Kharif 2021, a total of 9.25 lakh number of Oilseed minikits of high yielding varieties have been allocated for distribution in all the major Oilseed growing states.  Further transfer of technology through Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) and Cluster Front Line Demonstrations (CFLDs) are also being provided to the farmers through the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).  The scheme also provides for input distribution such as Integrated Pest Management (IPM), soil ameliorants, plant protection chemicals, micro irrigation & supply of farm machinery and implements.

NFSM-Oil Palm:  The scheme is being implemented in twelve states in India. In order to promote Oil Palm cultivation, assistance is provided for planting material, maintenance and intercropping costs for 4 years, micro irrigation, borewell, pumpset, farm pond, establishment of seed garden,  support to Oil Palm processing unit in North East/Hilly states and Training of farmers & extension workers, demonstrations and distribution etc. In the 12 states namely, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, the farmers are getting benefits of NFSM-Oil Palm.
