National Grape Summit 2025 Organized
07 March 2025, New Delhi: Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I) and ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes (ICAR-NRCG) organized the National Grape Summit in Pune to promote Indian grapes in the global market and popularize grape and wine tourism. The two-day summit and vineyard visits were addressed and participated by policymakers, experts of international repute, researchers, businesses, and farmers.
The summit was inaugurated by Dr Subrata Gupta, Secretary, MoFPI, GoI; Dr Kaushik Banerjee, Director, ICAR-NRCG; Shri Jayanta Chakraborty, Chairperson, National Committee for Agri-Horti-Food Processing and Rural Development, BCC&I; Shri Subhodip Ghosh, Director General, BCC&I; Shri Simon Wiebusch, President, BAYER, South Asia; and Dr Nilanjan Sanyal, Head-R&D, BASF.
Dr Subrata Gupta, Secretary (MoFPI), highlighted viti-tourism, the success of the grape expansion programme in non-traditional areas of India, and the achievements of ICAR-NRCG.
Dr Kaushik Banerjee, Director, ICAR-NRCG, highlighted ICAR-NRCG’s contributions to grape research and sustainable viticulture.
The summit brought together key stakeholders from the grape industry, including policymakers, scientists, farmers, and industry leaders.
The summit featured panel discussions on GAP, market intelligence, value-added product marketing, and viticulture advancements, with participation from experts from government, agribusiness, and export sectors.
A key moment was the release of the National Referral Laboratories’ Technical Bulletin, entitled “Celebrating 20 Years of the NRL’s Pesticide Residue Monitoring in Grapes: A Journey of Growth, Development, Success, and Impact,” emphasizing advancements in grape production and trade facilitation. The event underscored the importance of research-driven innovations in boosting India’s grape industry and global competitiveness.
