Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan visits ICAR-KVK, Chittor
02 January 2025, New Delhi: Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, visited the Chittoor 1 KVK (RASS) in Karakambadi today to assess the ongoing activities.
The Minister emphasized KVK’s role in lowering farming costs and boosting incomes through technologies like drum-seeder, soil testing-based fertilizer management, drones, integrated farming, and farm mechanization. He also highlighted government support for these innovations and urged broader adoption of schemes such as PM KISAN, KISAN Credit Card, Soil Health Card, and Drone Technologies. The Agriculture Minister reviewed the ICAR-KVK activities by visiting stalls on Sericulture, Field Crops, Horticulture, Kadaknath Poultry, millet, and organic products. He also interacted with the farmers and entrepreneurs about their productivity and income. Mr. Chouhan lauded the efforts of ICAR-KVK, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad, and Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS).
Mr. Arani Srinivasulu, Member of Legislative Assembly, Tirupathi, spoke about the value of KVK’s programmes, in training farmers on modern practices.
Dr Shaik N Meera, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad, briefed the national importance of KVKs in advancing farm science and farmer welfare.
Dr S. Venkataratnam, Chairman, Chittoor 1 KVK (RASS), assured continued efforts to bring Central Schemes to farming communities.
Dr S. Venkateshwar, IAS, lauded the demonstration of Kisan drones, anticipating their revolutionary impact on agriculture.
The Union Minister released KVK publications and QR codes and distributed seeds, seedlings, sprayers, soil health cards, and financial assistance to farmers and women SHGs.
The event was attended by authorities, scientists, staff, officials, media representatives, and more than 350 farmers from the Tirupati and Chittoor districts.
