Krishonnati Yojana (KY): Ensuring Agricultural Prosperity and Food Security

04 October 2024, New Delhi: Krishonnati Yojana (KY) is a forward-looking scheme that focuses on enhancing India’s food security and achieving agricultural self-sufficiency. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the scheme has been rationalized to eliminate duplication and promote the efficient use of resources.

Supporting Farmers and Improving Productivity

KY includes mission-mode initiatives like the National Mission for Edible Oil-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) and the Clean Plant Program, both of which are aimed at improving the quality and quantity of essential agricultural commodities. Additionally, KY integrates Digital Agriculture to modernize farming practices, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in the agricultural value chain.

Value Chain Development

One of the main goals of KY is to develop robust value chains that link farmers to markets more effectively. This will not only increase farmers’ incomes but also reduce the inefficiencies that currently plague the agricultural sector. By fostering private sector participation, KY is expected to make India’s agricultural system more competitive and self-sufficient in the coming years.
