‘Kisan Mela’ Organized Under The Tribal Sub Plan at AP Centre, Basar
14 February 2025, New Delhi: ICAR-Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Basar, organized a ‘Kisan Mela’ today under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) on the theme ‘From Tradition to Innovation: Tribal Agriculture.’ The event aimed to bridge traditional farming wisdom with modern agricultural practices, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration.
Smt Nyabi Jini Dirchi, MLA, 29-Basar (ST) Assembly Constituency, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Atul Tayeng, Deputy Commissioner of Leparada, attended as the Guest of Honor and Shri Thupten Jambey, Superintendent of Police, Leparada, as the special guest.
Mrs. Dirchi lauded the efforts of the ICAR-AP Centre and its KVKs (West Siang, Longding, Namsai, and Anjaw) in promoting sustainable and modern agricultural practices. She also emphasized the importance of organic farming, market-oriented cultivation, the One-District, One-Product (ODOP) initiative, and the role of indigenous traditional knowledge in enhancing agricultural sustainability.
A key highlight of the mela was the recognition of twelve progressive farmers for their innovative approaches in integrated farming systems and natural farming practices. Their contributions serve as an inspiration for the farming community, reinforcing the event’s objective of promoting sustainable agricultural advancements.
The Kisan Mela successfully provided a dynamic platform for farmers, researchers, and policymakers to interact, fostering the integration of traditional knowledge with scientific innovations for a resilient and prosperous agricultural future.
Over 100 tribal farmers from the region actively participated in the programme.
