“Kisan Mela on Natural Farming and Date Palm Exhibition” inaugurated

14 June 2022, New Delhi: “The farmers should adopt the Natural Farming and reduce their farm expenses, maintaining soil health, increasing crop productivity and profitability”, urged Mr. Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare. Mr. Choudhary was addressing the inaugural session of the one-day “Kisan Mela on Natural Farming and Date Palm Exhibition” organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mundra, Kutch, Gujarat here today.

The Minister underlined the benefits provided by the Government of India for the farmers through the various Agricultural Development Schemes. He also advised the farmers to constitute the Farmers’ Producers’ Organisations. The work on Jal Shakti Abhiyan and awareness created among the farmers for the natural resource management by the KVK, Kutch – I, Gujarat and the other organizations in the District were applauded by him.

Mr. Shantilal Meckoni, Chairman, Rural Agro Research and Development Society (RARDS), KVK, Kutch highlighted the works on check dams, percolation tank, plantation and the financial support provided to the KVK on a regular basis.

Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune, Maharashtra urged the farmers for adopting the resource conservation technologies, drip irrigation, In-Situ Moisture Conservation, natural farming and indigenous cow based rearing for sustainable agriculture.

Dr. U.N. Tank, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Mundra, Kutch, Gujarat outlined the best efforts of Rain Water Harvesting Work.

Around 12 farmers of the Kutch District were felicitated with the Certificates for their significant contributions in the Natural Farming.

The MLA, District Collector, District Development Officer and the various other officers from Line Departments also participated in the event.
