Indore’s upcoming cargo terminal to ease transport of fruits, flowers, and vegetables

09 March 2023, Indore: The farmers of Indore and neighboring districts will soon be able to transport their fruits, flowers, and vegetables from Indore. The work of the new domestic cargo terminal at Indore airport is progressing fast and has a facility for cold storage and managing cold chain transit in an area of 17,100 square meters. Its annual capacity will be more than 62,000 metric tonnes. 

Apart from this, work is also going on for perishable cargo. The cargo facility is being built in an area of 300 square meters which will make it easy to send out fruits, flowers, vegetables, and other perishable items from the Indore district. The annual capacity of perishable cargo will be around 5475 metric tonnes.

Indore’s Member of Parliament Shri Lalwani had started work on the project to take Indore forward in the matter of air cargo amidst the Covid-19 lockdown, which is now towards completion. Mr. Lalwani inspected the works going on at the airport and said that the expansion of domestic cargo will provide convenience to the businessmen of Indore and it will be easy to send goods outside. This new cargo terminal will have a capacity of about 3 times more than the present capacity and the formation of perishable cargo will also benefit the farmers and increase their income.
