India and Israel Strengthen Agricultural Ties with Focus on Innovation and Sustainability

01 March2025, New Delhi: Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Reuven Azar, met with Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration in agriculture and allied sectors. The discussions centered on food security, sustainable supply chains, and the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies.

Dr. Chaturvedi reaffirmed the strong agricultural partnership between India and Israel, underscoring key initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s vision for utilizing recycled sewage water for farming. He also addressed trade concerns and grain storage strategies to bolster agricultural efficiency.

A key agenda of the meeting was the forthcoming visit of Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security. The leaders reviewed the impact of Centers of Excellence (CoEs) established across 20 Indian states, focusing on boosting productivity, precision irrigation, post-harvest management, and market access.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening cooperation in agricultural innovation and horticulture, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes. The Israeli delegation also included Mr. Fares Saeb, Deputy Chief of Mission, while senior officials from the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare (DA&FW) represented India.
