ICAR Participates In The 150th-anniversary Celebrations Of The India Meteorological Department

20 January 2025, New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) celebrated its 150th year of its establishment in the Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, today.

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering. The Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mr. Jitendra Singh, and the Secretary General, the World Meteorological Organization, and Prof. Celeste Saulo also graced the inaugural session.

An exhibition was organized, where ICAR showcased its accomplishments, particularly in areas such as Agromet Advisory, Dynamic Crop Weather Calendar, Climate Resilient Agriculture, and Precision Agriculture. ICAR scientists also participated as panelists in the discussion on “Weather and Climate Services for Agriculture.”

Over 1000 delegates representing Ministries of Environmental Sciences, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Home, Defence, Water Resources, etc. participated in the programme.
