ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru celebrates “World Milk Day – 2022”

02 June 2022, Bengaluru: The ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru, Karnataka in collaboration with the Indian Dairy Association – South Zone (IDA – SZ) and Bureau of Indian Standards, Chennai celebrated the “World Milk Day – 2022” here today. The theme of the World Milk Day – 2022 is “Sustainability in the Dairy Sector with Nutrition, Environment and Socio-Economic Empowerment”.

The Chief Guest, Mr. A.R. Shivakumar, Former Scientist, KCST, a renowned Water Conservation Expert stressed on the need of water conservation and technologies available for water harvesting.

The Keynote Speaker, Mr. Amit Roy, Deputy Director General (South), BIS, Chennai underlined the newly launched Awareness Scheme of BIS-NDDB on “Conformity Assessment Scheme for Milk and Milk Products”.

The Guests of Honor, Mr. C.P. Charles, Chairman, IDA-SZ and Mr. B.N. Shashikumar highlighted the need of regulating the Milk quality to meet the International standards.

Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Director, ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru outlined the importance of Milk for a healthy life. The mandatory quality assurance for creating confidence among the consumers was also emphasized by Dr. Bhatta.

About 100 participants from various Milk Unions of Karnataka; ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru; ICAR-NDRI, Haryana; NDDB; IDA-SZ; Bengaluru Dairy Science College and Private Dairies participated in the event.
