ICAR-NBFGR Promotes Fisheries Enhancement and Sustainable Management Practices Through Aquaculture Input Distribution and Community Participation Under SCSP

19 September 2024, Lucknow: ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources organized a comprehensive programme focusing on fisheries enhancement, sustainable management practices, and aquaculture input distribution under the schedule caste sub plan component at its aquaculture research and training unit, Chinhat, Lucknow, today. The event, aligned with the swachhata pakhwada 2024, commenced with a pledge under the swachhata hi seva initiative, promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

Dr U. K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, highlighted the significance of community participation in advancing fisheries development.

Essential aquaculture materials, such as lime, bleaching powder, potassium permanganate, fish fry nets, hand nets, and electric weighing machines, to fish farmers were distributed during the programme. These resources aim to improve aquaculture practices and support sustainable fisheries management.

Technological demonstrations and capacity development sessions were also organised to sensitize the farmers on best practices in aquaculture and resource management.

A total of 50 scheduled caste fish farmers from various districts of Uttar Pradesh attended the programme.
