ICAR-DFR, Pune inks MoU with Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre, Kannauj
15 October 2024, Pune: ICAR- Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune and Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre, Kannauj under the Ministry of MSME signed a Memorandum of Understanding at FFDC, Kannauj for facilitating trainings/capacity building and development of fine fragrances and products from flower crops, today.
Dr K.V. Prasad, Director, ICAR-DFR, Pune accentuated that the MoU aims to stimulate and facilitate collaborative programs in the field of fragrance research. It also promotes mutually interested product development from flower crops that help advance the interests of scientific studies and benefit the stakeholders. Development of high value phyto-chemicals and their value-added products from flower crops would enhance the farmers’ income many folds, he added.
Mr. Shakti Vinay Shukla, Director, Fragrance & Flavour Development Centre emphasized that the objective of this agreement is to conduct tailor made training programmes for scientific/ technical personnel of ICAR & AICRP centers for initial capacity building and help in development of fine/ specialized floral fragrances.
The other officials present during the occasion stressed utilizig the mutual strengths of both the institutions to promote inter-institutional collaborative research, exchange, engagements in areas of common causes; creation & development of value-added products from fragrant ornamentals.
As part of the implementation of the MoU, a 10-day training programme on Production of Fragrant Raw Material, Fragrance and Flavour Creation for ICAR-DFR and AICRP scientists was inaugurated today.
The comprehensive programme comprised of 20 theory, 14 hands-on practical sessions and few industry visits.
