ICAR-CMFRI and State Fisheries Department Organize Awareness Workshop on Minimum Legal Size for Thane and Palghar District

20 January 2025, New Delhi: On January 16, 2025, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research – Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CMFRI) of Mumbai Regional Station in collaboration with the State Fisheries Department organized an awareness workshop on the Minimum Legal Size (MLS) for marine fish in Thane and Palghar District. The workshop aimed to educate local fishermen and stakeholders about the importance of MLS regulations to ensure sustainable fishing practices and the conservation of marine resources.

The event featured presentations, interactive sessions, and discussions on the benefits of MLS in maintaining fish populations and supporting the livelihoods of fishing communities. The Fisheries Department and Stakeholder requested to conduct more awareness programme on the MLS along the Maharashtra Coast.
