08 November 2022, Punjab: The Punjab and Haryana High Court mentioned that spurious pesticides developed without necessary approvals of authority are harming the soil fertility besides human and cattle health.
Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by two accused of manufacturing pesticides illegally. The two accused were seeking pre-arrest bail in a case registered on 29th August 2022 at Ratia Sadar police station in Fatehabad district.
The state council submitted that the recovery of two chemical mixing machines and empty bottles to be filled with pesticides showed that the petitioners were in process of manufacturing the same. It was to be supplied to the distributors and then to the farmers.
Justice Gill mentioned, “Keeping in view the nature and the gravity of the offence, this court finds that petitioners are required for custodial interrogation to ascertain the source of recovered raw material. Therefore, finding no merit in present petition, the same is dismissed.”
