Haryana Government is committed to bring cooperative sugar mills out of losses: Mr. J.P. Dalal
05 January 2023, Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. J.P. Dalal said that the state government is committed to bring cooperative sugar mills out of losses and has been making consistent efforts in the interest of sugarcane growing farmers of the state. Looking forward in this direction, the state government has constituted a committee to evaluate the working capacity of the sugar mills across the state.
Mr. Dalal gave this information while presiding over the first meeting of the committee constituted for sugarcane pricing today.
Directing to the officers who have been made members of the committee, the Minister said that the recovery of sugar in cooperative sugar mills should be increased by more than 10 percent to reduce the losses of the sugar mills. He said that the loss of the sugar mills increased due to the low recovery rate last year. He directed that other possible alternatives should be explored to bring sugar mills out of losses.
The Agriculture Minister said that such constructive steps are being taken under Atamnirbhar Bharat vision of Prime Minister. In this direction, ethanol plants are being set up in cooperative sugar mills.
Mr. Dalal further said that sugarcane producing farmers have always played an important role in the development of cooperative sugar mills. Farmers should adopting latest technologies for producing sugarcane, he added.
