“Garib Kalyan Sammelan” organized
04 June 2022, New Delhi: The Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi addressed the “Garib Kalyan Sammelan” in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh today. The Sammelan marking the completion of 8 Years of the government led by the Prime Minister is being organized across the country at State Capitals, District Headquarters, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The Sammelan conceptualizes the elected public representatives across the country directly interacting with the public to get feedback about the various welfare programmes being run by the Government.
The Prime Minister also released the 11th Instalment of financial benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme. This will enable the transfer of an amount of around Rs. 21,000 Crores to more than 10 Crores beneficiary farmer families. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also interacted with the beneficiaries of (PM-KISAN) across the country.
The ICAR Institutes pan India also arranged the Live Webcasting of the PM’s Programme.
ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai, Maharashtra
Mr. Kapil Moreshwar Patil, Union Minister of State for Panchayat Raj and Shree Devendra Fadnavis, Former-Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly along with the other Senior Ministers and Officials of State Government participated in the event.
More than 1,000 Fish Farmers attended the programme.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of State for Education & External Affairs stated that the encouragement of the new budding Entrepreneurs is developed through “Make in Manipur” Initiative.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, Member of Legislative Assembly, Government of Manipur urged the farmers to get benefitted with the various Schemes of the Government of India.
The Guest of Honor, Laishram Boby Devi, Up-Adhyaksha, Imphal West stressed on the need for updating the information and database of the people to enable them reap the benefits of the Government Schemes effectively.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. N. Johnson Meetei, Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West Dr. N. Johnson Meetei, Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West appreciated ICAR’s initiative for helping in creating the awareness and disseminating the benefits of the Government Schemes to the masses.
About 400 farmers and participants from the various parts of the State participated in the event.
ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa & Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa
The Institute and KVK arranged the Webcasting of the PM’s Programme at the Panchayat Hall, Assnora.
The programme was arranged in collaboration with Smt. Hema Budge, President of Pragati Rural Mart, Assnora.
The Women folks of Self-Help Groups were distributed with the Vermibeds for promoting the Entrepreneurship.
The event registered participation by 50 Self-Help Group Women Farmers.
ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai
The Institute in collaboration with the Madras Centre of ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute; Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited; Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Chennai and Bharat Petroleum Company Ltd., Chennai arranged the Webcasting of the Prime Minister’s Programme.
Delivering the inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. L. Murugan, Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Information & Broadcasting underlined the Government of India’s various Schemes for the societal development focusing on poor and the down trodden, women, farmers and fisher communities.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA, Chennai highlighted the community development activities undertaken by the Institute for the welfare of the coastal fisher families. The various activities implemented by the Institute through Government of India’s Scheme – Tribal Sub Plan, Scheduled Caste Special Programme and My Village My Pride, etc., were also underlined by Dr. Jithendran.
Mr. Arvind Kumar, Managing Director, CPCL, Chennai and Mr. V.C. Asokan, Executive Director, IOCL also graced the occasion.
More than 1,500 participants including fishers, women beneficiaries from Coastal Villages, aqua farmers and women beneficiaries of Prime Minister’s Ujjwala LPG Scheme participated in the event.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs highlighted the commercial importance of Lac. He stressed on the need for making extensive contributions in the field for its development.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Sanjay Seth, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Ranchi, Jharkhand regarded the farmer as the food donor of the country.
Dr. K.K. Sharma, Director, ICAR-IINRG, Ranchi; Dr. A. Patnaik, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi and Dr. Nirmal Kumar, Convener of Programme also deliberated during the occasion.
ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
The Institute in collaboration with the Indian Society for Root Crops jointly hosted the Webcast of the Prime Minister’s address and organized the State Level Stakeholders’ Interface-cum-Farmers’ Fair today.
Delivering the inaugural address, Mr. V. Muraleedharan, Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs emphasized that the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi has greatly helped the farmers to avoid starvation during the COVID-19 Epidemic and crop failure. The Minister applauded the Institute’s Scientists for developing the technologies like Bio-fuel from Cassava which can enhance the farmers’ income.
The Minister felicitated 4 farmers – Mr. Jayaprakesh E., Malappuram; Mr. Raveendran, Parashala; Mr. Suresh Kumar R., Pallichal and Mr. Pavithra Kumar G., Karode during the occasion.
Dr. M.N. Sheela, Director, ICAR-CTCRI presided over the function. Mr. V. Seetharaman, General Manager, SBI, Local Head Office, Thiruvananthapuram and Mr. James P. George, Deputy General Manager, NABARD, Thiruvananthapuram were among the Special Guests of the occasion.
About 2,000 farmers participated in the event.
