30 March 2022, New Delhi: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is a Central Sector Scheme. The Scheme aims at providing financial assistance to landholding farmer families across the country, subject to certain exclusion criteria, to enable them to take care of expenses related to agriculture and allied activities as well as domestic needs.
Under the Scheme, an amount of Rs. 6000/- per year is transferred in three 4-monthly instalments of Rs.2000/- directly into the bank accounts of the farmers through DBT Mode.
The State of West Bengal has joined the PM-KISAN Scheme from April-2021. The details of funds released in the State of West Bengal including in the districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong during FY 2021-22 was shared by the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
