“FPOs, Farmers, Start-Ups Immersion Programme” organized

22 July 2022, New Delhi: The a-IDEA, ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad organized the “FPOs / FPCs, Farmers and Start-Ups Immersion Programme” today. The Programme aimed at bringing the Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations / Companies of Telangana State and the Start-Ups associated with a-IDEA on a common platform was organized in collaboration with the Samunnati, Hyderabad.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Somasundaram, DGM, NABARD, interacted with the FPOs to understand their problems and helped resolve their issues pertaining to the financial support, market linkages and better solutions for the farmers in preparing a business plan.

Dr. Ranjit Kumar, Head, ABM, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad highlighted the importance of the FPOs in scaling-up the business of Start-Ups. The need for reducing the cost of inputs with improved operational efficiency and market linkages for profit maximization was also stressed by him.

Mr. Rajesh Savarala, Head, Farmers’ Network (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana), Samunnati underlined the evolution of Samunnati since 2014 in bringing the overall development of the farming community in general and Telangana farmers in particular.

Dr. Vijay Avinashilingam, Additional C.E.O., a-IDEA, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad outlined the main objectives of the Immersion Programme. He also highlighted the importance, need and scope for bringing the FPOs and Start-Ups together.

The Programme registered participation by more than 125 participants.
