Farmers Plan March to Delhi on December 6
04 December 2024, New Delhi: Punjab farmer leader Swaran Singh Pandher announced that a group of farmers, led by prominent leaders, will march to Delhi on foot starting December 6. The move comes amid growing frustration with the central government for its lack of dialogue with protesting farmers over issues such as a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Since February 13, farmers under the banners of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan have been protesting at Shambhu and Khanduri border points between Punjab and Haryana. The march to Delhi was previously halted by security forces, leaving the farmers camped at these sites. Pandher criticized the government’s inaction and reaffirmed the determination of the farmers to press for their demands.
