Farmers Encouraged to Share Knowledge with Peers: VC Naveen Kumar

11 January 2024, New Delhi: Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Prof. Naveen Kumar, urged farmers to share the valuable knowledge they acquire from experts with fellow farmers. He emphasized that the benefits of such knowledge can be multiplied when shared, reaching a wider community and improving agricultural practices on a larger scale.

Prof. Kumar made these remarks while addressing farmers at the conclusion of a two-day training program on nano fertilizers, sponsored by IFFCO. He pointed out that farmers from various parts of the state attend training programs at the university and are expected to return to their communities and share the insights they gained with others.

The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the growing importance of rural Common Service Centers (CSCs), which are being upgraded to offer more extensive services. He predicted that these centers would soon function like large malls in rural areas, providing a platform for farmers to access various resources. Farmers could also spend time in these CSCs, exchanging knowledge and experiences with other agriculturalists.

During the closing ceremony Director Extension Education, Dr Vinod Shram, Dr Suman Kumar Prof. Plant Pathology and Training Incharge Dr Lav Bhushan also shared their views. Dr. Bhuvnesh Pathania, State Marketing Manager of IFFCO, mentioned that the training program had provided valuable insights into nano fertilizers to 35 farmers from Hamirpur, Mandi, Bilaspur, Kullu, and Kangra districts. Over the two days, the farmers learned about the applications and benefits of nano fertilizers.

A field visit to a demonstration farm set up for nano urea at the university was also part of the program. The farmers had the opportunity to see firsthand how these innovations are being applied in the field.
