Farmer`s awareness programme organized at village takarla (sbs nagar)
05 March 2022, Punjab: A Farmers awareness program was organized at village Takarla, SBS Nagar by RRS Ballowal Saunkhri under the guidance of Dr. Manmohanjit Singh, Director, Regional Research Station, Ballowal Saunkhri and Nodal officer of Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa Scheme. Dr Gurwinder Singh, Extension Specialist, welcomes all the participants of the programme. Dr Naresh Kumar, Plant Breeder, gave information about the selection of crop varieties based on weather conditions. Der Balwinder Singh Dhillon, Agronomist, told about crops varieties to be sown during the kharif season and weed management in these crops. He also encouraged farmers about efficient use of fertilizers based on soil testing only so that environment, fertilizer and money can be saved due to overdoses of fertilizers. Dr Urvi Sharma, Entomologist, shared her views on the control of insect pests in the wheat, oilseeds, fruit crops and vegetables. Dr Navneet Kaur, Scientist Agro meteorology gave information about the weather services given y the India Meteorological Department and how farmers can make efficient use of this information. Dr. Manmohanjit Singh, Director, Regional Research Station, Ballowal Saunkhri and Nodal officer of Gramin Krishi Human Sewa Scheme thanked all the farmers for attending this awareness camp and emphasized farmers to transform the agriculture practices keeping in view the weather predictions services provided under the scheme. He also gave an overview of the work being done at research station. Around 70 farmers participated in the camp.
