Dr U.S. Gautam inaugurates Brahmaputra House at ICAR-ATARI Zone VI, Guwahati
09 November 2024, Guwahati: ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone VI, celebrated a significant milestone today with the inauguration of Brahmaputra House, a newly constructed Director’s Residence, by Dr U.S. Gautam, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR. The structure is intended to enhance residential facilities for ICAR ATARI, Zone VI.
Dr Gautam lauded Dr G. Kadirvel, Director of ICAR ATARI, Zone VI, and his team on the successful completion of this important structure and encouraged all KVKs to prioritize initiatives that would increase agricultural productivity and sustainability across Northeast India.
Earlier, Dr Gautam also laid the foundation stone for an Agro Eco Park at KVK Goalpara, envisioned as a major step toward sustainable agriculture in Northeast India.
Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, graced the event in virtual mode.
Dr G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Guwahati, briefed about the achievements and ongoing initiatives of ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI for the years 2023-2024. He emphasized the critical role of ICAR-KVKs in advancing agricultural technologies throughout the region. He also interacted with the staff of ICAR-ATARI, Guwahati, and Senior Scientists & Heads of nearby KVKs.
Dr A.K. Mohanty, Director, ICAR ATARI, Zone VII; Dr Rajumoni Bordoloi, Director, Extension Education Institute, Khanapara; Senior Scientists and heads of nearby KVKs of Zone VI; ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Centre, Kahikuchi representatives and officials from CPWD were present during the programme.
The initiative aims to serve as a model of eco-friendly agricultural practices, underscoring the commitment of ICAR ATARI, Zone VI to environmental stewardship and agricultural advancement in the region.
