Development of tribal families through NABARD’s Wadi project

08 June 2023, Bhopal: The five-day Mango Festival 6.0 was launched by NABARD at the regional office in the capital Bhopal. The festival was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Hemant Kumar Soni, Incharge-General Manager, RBI. On this occasion, he said that the financial inclusion policies of the Government of India are benefiting the farmers. He said that the tribal farmers have got a marketing platform for the mangoes produced by them through the Wadi project of NABARD. Mr. Sunil Kumar, Chief General Manager, NABARD, said that the objective of this mango festival is to provide a marketing platform to the farmers. He said that NABARD has established the Wadi project for the benefit of the farmers. This will empower the tribals.

Mr. Binod Kumar Mishra, Chief General Manager, SBI praised this unique initiative of NABARD’s Mango Festival which ensures market availability to tribal farmers for their produce.

Shri Tarsem Singh Zira, Convener, SLBC & General Manager, Central Bank of India, appreciated the contribution of NABARD to the rural prosperity of India. He expressed gratitude to NABARD for providing a marketing platform to farmers from all over the state. He also said that NABARD has been organizing such events for the people involved in self-help. He assured farmers that they would continue to get full cooperation from the banking system.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. PS Tiwari, Managing Director, Apex Bank said that the Wadi project is also important for the environment because the more trees we plant, the more we will be saved from the problem of global warming.
