Delegation from Egypt visits Madhya Pradesh for Wheat import
12 April 2022, Indore: Madhya Pradesh is at the top position among the wheat producing states in India. The state has immense potential for export of wheat. The Chief Minister of the state Shivraj Singh Chouhan is continuously making efforts to encourage the export of wheat from the state. The Chief Minister is also pushing for a GI tag for its wheat which will add on to the demand of wheat from the state.
In connection with these efforts of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a team of senior officers from Egypt came to Indore yesterday. The Egyptian officials met the traders, exporters and government officials regarding and discussed storage, purity and quality of wheat produced in the state.
The Egypt team mentioned that discussions are going on at senior level regarding the export of wheat from Madhya Pradesh. During the discussion it was told that the traders and exporters of Madhya Pradesh would go to Egypt and implement the export initiative.
The delegation from Egypt included members from Pest Risk Analysis Unit at the Central Department for Agriculture Quarantine – Egypt, Inspector of Agriculture Quarantine at the Central Department for Agriculture Quarantine – Egypt. The team visited the Central Warehouse near Indore where they tested the storage, purity and quality of wheat.
