CSKHPAU to have a centre of excellence on protected cultivation Palampur 23 May

25 May 2024, Palampur: Under Indo Israel Project, a centre of excellence on protected cultivation will be established at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University. This was decided in a meeting between Dr D.K.Vatsa, Vice Chancellor and Mr. Uri Rubinstein, Agriculture Attach at the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi. The Vice Chancellor told that a high level team lead by Mr Rubinstein visited the University.

They were highly impressed to see the  Hi-Tech poly houses, hydroponic unit, and vegetable grafting unit in the University. During the visit, Dr Vatsa, Director of Research Dr S.K.Upadhyay and  Prof Parveen Sharma provided an overview of the university’s advancements in protected cultivation of vegetable crops and vegetable grafting. Mr. Rubinstein and his team examined the protected structures and praised the research on protected cultivation and ongoing experiments with gherkins, parthenocarpic cucumbers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and vegetable grafting. The visitors appreciated the  outstanding work in vegetable science. Mr.Rubinstein said that as proposed by the Vice Chancellor, a centre of excellence on protected cultivation will be established as already there are 32 Centres of excellence have been  established in 14 Indian states under Indo Israel agriculture project  dealing with different fruit and vegetable crops.
