Central government warns fertilizer companies not to force farmers to buy other products along with their fertilizers
19 November 2022, New Delhi: A notice issued by the Joint Secretary of Fertilizer mentioned that it has come to the notice of the Department of Fertilizers, New Delhi that fertilizer companies are tagging fertilizers with other products of the company. Tagging means that the companies are trying to sell other products of their company along with the fertilizers required by the farmer.
The notice mentioned, “Indulging in such practices on the part of the company is not advisable and is illegal as it increases the cost of fertilizers. A huge amount of subsidy is borne by the Government of India for the benefit of the farmers.”
The notice warned companies to stop product tagging with fertilizers. It has also been said in the notice that strict action will be taken against the companies if any case regarding tagging comes to light.
