Awareness campaign for farmers on PM-KUSUM Component B
11 July 2024, New Delhi: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hooghly and ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, Zone-V jointly organized the awareness campaign for farmers on ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan’ today. The programme aimed to illuminate the path to energy security for Indian farmers and raise awareness about the potential of solar agriculture pumps under PM-KUSUM Component B.
The Chief Guest Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, emphasized that this scheme will herald a new era of water security for farmers, providing dependable water sources through solar pumps while also nurturing the environment by reducing pollution. Dr. Dey highlighted that the PM-KUSUM Component B scheme is one of the world’s largest initiatives to provide clean energy and he warmly invited farmers to come forward and embrace the benefits of this ground-breaking programme of Govt. of India.
Dr. Amitava Banerjee, Assistant Director, Director of Extension Education, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, highlighted using renewable solar energy sources in agriculture to cut costs.
A total of 49 farmers and farm women from Hooghly district of West Bengal actively participated in the programme.
