Annual Review and Planning Meeting of Intercropping Project
21 May 2024, Modipuram: ICAR-Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research, Modipuram organised the annual review and planning meeting for the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research funded project, ‘Additive Intercropping in Wide-Row Crops for Resilient Crop Production in Bangladesh, Bhutan, and India.’ This meeting was conducted in collaboration with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, Dhaka, and took place at the ICAR-IIFSR campus from May 13th-15th, 2024.
The Chief Guest Dr. Eric Huttner, Regional Program Manager, ACIAR, Australia, and the Guest of Honour Dr. Pratibha Singh, ACIAR, New Delhi graced the occasion.
Dr. Sunil Kumar, Director, ICAR- Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research, Modipuram, was also present during the programme.
The meeting included discussion on the progress of agronomic research on maize and sugarcane with additive intercropping, as well as the implementation of a socio-economic survey to gather baseline information on knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding intercropping, family nutrition, women’s empowerment, and value chain development in different agro-ecological contexts.
A total of 24 delegates from various institutes participated in the programme.
