Annual Action Plan workshop for ICAR-KVKs of Assam
15 May 2024, Assam: A 2-day Annual Action Plan Workshop for ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Assam was organised by ICAR-ATARI, Zone-VI, Guwahati in collaboration with Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat at the Directorate of Extension Education, AAU, Jorhat, Assam on 13th & 14th May 2024. The workshop aimed at formulating and refining the action plans of KVKs to address the problems of farmers and improve farmers’ livelihoods across the state.
The Chief Guest Dr. Bidyut Chandan Deka, Vice-Chancellor of AAU, Jorhat, highlighted the crucial role of ICAR-KVKs in achieving the Indian government’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. He also accentuated the importance of an Integrated System Approach to enhance farmers’ livelihoods.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Chetia, Director, Research (Agriculture), AAU, Jorhat, spoke about various technologies developed by the university and reiterated the significance of disseminating innovations to farmers for practical implementation.
Dr. Kadirvel Govindasamy, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institutes, Zone-VI, urged increasing cropping intensity in flood-affected areas through technological interventions. He also highlighted the importance of rice fallow management to boost productivity and resilience.
Dr. Manoranjan Neog, Director, (Extension Education), AAU, Jorhat briefed an overview of the importance of the Annual Action Plan within the KVK system.
Dr. H.C. Bhattacharya, Dean, Daffodil College of Horticulture, Dr. H.K. Bhattacharya, Associate Director, Extension (Veterinary), Veterinary College, Khanapara, Dr. R.K. Saud, Associate Director, (Extension), AAU, Jorhat, were present during the programme.
The 26 KVKs of Assam presented their action plans during a workshop, which were thoroughly reviewed and incorporated into the final action plan for the current financial year.
Officials of the State Agriculture Department and experts from various disciplines participated in the workshop.
