Announcement of Farmers’ Mahapanchayat in Haryana on September 24

20 September 2024, New Delhi: A Farmers’ Mahapanchayat has been announced to take place in Pipli, Haryana, on September 24, according to farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher.

Pandher also shared that on the upcoming Wednesday, farmers are preparing to stage a protest at the DC office in Amritsar, Punjab. The protest aims to secure jobs and compensation for the families of martyrs. Alongside this, farmers will demand the supply of quality DAP fertilizer, a solid solution for stubble burning, and the enforcement of a ban on drugs in Punjab. The protest will be held outside the DC office to address these issues.

Pandher further warned that if these demands are not addressed, farmers are preparing to disrupt railway services as part of their next move. The farmer leaders emphasized that if the government fails to act, they will resume their “Rail Roko” movement. They urged the government to take swift action to resolve farmers’ issues.

Addressing the Modi government, Pandher said, “Many of your ministers claimed that farmers protesting are not real farmers, while actual farmers are busy working in their fields. To this, I would like to point out that in Madhya Pradesh, where there is a double-engine government, thousands of farmers have gathered in front of the collector’s office to demand fair prices for their soybean crops. Where did they come from? And what about the issues arising in Maharashtra? The demand for a legal guarantee on MSP (Minimum Support Price) is also emerging in states with double-engine governments. We want to make it clear that our demands must be met as soon as possible.”
