An Equipreneur from Bengaluru establishes a private equine semen lab with the help of ICAR-NRCE
13 May 2024, New Delhi: Mr. Navaneet Murugesh, a Bangalore-based equine breeder, established the first private equine semen laboratory in Yelhanka, Bangalore, offering fresh, chilled, and frozen stallion semen facilities. Mr. Murugesh and his team received training in stallion semen collection and cryopreservation from the experts of the ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines.
He purchased two technologies developed by ICAR-NRCE, Bikaner Campus ‘Semen Collection and Cryopreservation in Indigenous Horses’ and ‘Customized AV for semen collection from Stallions’ developed by Dr. T.R Talluri and his team.
He established a state-of-the-art laboratory in Yelhanka, Bangalore, for semen collection and cryopreservation with the help of technical inputs from ICAR – NRCE and successfully cryopreserved over 1000 straws of equine semen and successfully inseminated mares using frozen and chilled semen during a training programme.
The collection, cryopreservation, and Artificial Insemination of indigenous and exotic horses has started. Mr. Navaneet, prepared and promoted equine frozen semen doses from his private laboratory, inspiring young entrepreneurs and striving for excellence in all his endeavors.
A MoU was also signed between ICAR-NRCE and M/s. Equine Breeding India, Bengaluru.
