Agriculture Farmers’ Welfare Minister Visits Ambala Mandi

24 April 2025, Chandigarh: Haryana’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. Shyam Singh Rana visited the Mandi (grain markets) of Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment on Wednesday to review the ongoing wheat procurement process. During his visit, he not only checked the moisture content in the wheat piles but also interacted with the farmers and asked if they were facing any issues regarding the purchase of their crops, weighing, payments, or any other concerns. 

Mr. Rana also spoke with commission agents (arhtiyas) and took feedback about the facilities being provided in the Mandi. He reviewed the current status of wheat arrival, procurement, and lifting of wheat from the concerned procurement agencies. Responding to the demand for sunflower crop procurement raised by the commission agents, the Minister assured them that sunflower purchase will begin from the next season. Later, he also visited the Ambala Cantonment grain market and gave directions to improve the lifting process there. 

Meanwhile interacting with the media, Mr. Shyam Singh Rana said that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Nayab Singh Saini, the state government is committed to the welfare of farmers. He said that due to recent storms, fire incidents were reported, damaging 801 acres of crops along with this some polyhouses have been damaged and animals have also died. He said that all farmer losses will be compensated. Minimum Support Price (MSP) is being given on all crops in Haryana, and farmers are receiving payment for their produce within 48 hours, he added.
