12th Biennial National Krishi Vigyan Kendra Conference – 2022 concludes

08 June 2022, New Delhi: The “12th Biennial National Krishi Vigyan Kendra Conference – 2022 on “Sustainable Agricultural Production System” jointly organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Solan, Himachal Pradesh from 1st to 2nd June, 2022 concluded today.

Mr. Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying regarded the KVKs as the pillars of agricultural growth and prosperity in India. Highlighting the different priority areas of agriculture and allied sectors, the Union Minister urged for developing the KVKs as the Agri-Drone Centres.

In his address, Mr. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Governor of Himachal Pradesh urged the KVKs to become the “Centres of Excellence” on natural farming across the country.

Mr. Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare shared his experience of visiting the farmers practicing the natural farming. The Minister stressed on the need to promote the natural farming and urged the youths to engage in Agri-preneurial activities for enhancing the incomes.

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) highlighted the ICAR’s achievements in making the country independent in food production and the KVK’s role in increasing the pulses & oilseeds production and reducing the dependence on imports. The Director General urged the KVKs for acting in a convergence mode with the Line Departments, Research Institutes & other Stakeholders and set ground for another revolution in the Indian agriculture.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR and Dr. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor, YSPUHF, Solan, Himachal Pradesh also chaired the different sessions held during the occasion.

The different Technical Sessions held on the occasion were focused on the themes like Precision Agriculture, Diversification & Intensification; Natural Farming for Sustainable Agriculture and Successful Interventions & Experiences of KVKs and Young Entrepreneurs Facilitating KVKs in Management, Administrative & Financial Matters, etc.

The Conference registered participation by more than 1,200 Delegates from 731 KVKs, Agricultural Universities and ICAR Institutes, etc.
