1.12 crore bottles of nano urea sold till August 2022

18 August 2022, New Delhi: Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Chemical and Fertilizers, evaluated the status of Nano Urea (liquid) production and sales for the fiscal year 2022–2023 in a meeting yesterday. He also discussed the manufacturing of nano urea, the supply plan, and actions taken by the Department of Fertilizers (DoF) to increase its accessibility to farmers and merchants during the meeting. 

The Minister was informed that 1.23 crore bottles of nano urea had been produced and shipped during the period of 1 April 2022 to 10 August 2022. About 3.27 crore bottles have been sold since August 1, 2021, of which 2.15 crore were sold during the fiscal year 2021–2022 and 1.125 crore bottles (500 mL) were sold during the fiscal year 2022–2023 up to August 10, 2022.

The current nano urea production facility has a daily output capacity of 1.5 lakh bottles. Additional 4.60 crore bottles will be manufactured between September and December 2022 and January and March 2023. As a result, approximately 6.0 crore bottles of nano urea will be produced and made available to farmers during the FY 2022–23. The 27 lakh MT of traditional urea will make 6 crore bottles of nano urea for retail.

Dr. Mandaviya noted during the review that nano urea is currently well-liked by farmers all over the nation. He said that the availability and reach of Nano Urea to farmers will significantly expand if it was included in the monthly supply plan of the states by the Department of Fertilizers.

The Minister instructed the departmental representatives to promote Nano urea in mission mode to maximise its advantages. Additionally, he oversaw the organisation of retailers’ meetings at regular intervals in collaboration with other state departments in order to increase store awareness. The promotion of nano urea and farmers’ acceptance of it, he added, will undoubtedly revolutionise the fertiliser landscape in the nation.
