Vice Minister Zhang Taolin Addresses 6th Sino-German Agricultural Dialogue and Exchange

02 December 2020, Beijing: Vice Minister Zhang pointed out that, as an important part of China-German bilateral relations, agricultural cooperation between the two countries features rapid development and fruitful results, representing a model of agricultural cooperation between China and European countries. As major agricultural countries and economies in the world, China and Germany must shoulder play a critical role in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and safeguarding global food security.

Vice Minister Zhang stated that the two competent agricultural departments from both sides shall conduct a range of high-standard cooperative projects in key areas such as digital agriculture, animal and plant disease control, environmental conservation, rural development and governance, and fostering higher-caliber agricultural personnel by seizing new opportunities brought by new economic landscape.  

Dr. Clemens von Goetze, German Ambassador to China, and Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, Parliamentary State Secretary for Food and Agriculture of Germany also delivered speeches at the Dialogue. They expressed their appreciation for China’s constant efforts in greater opening-up in agriculture and readiness to further cooperation in various fields of agriculture with China. 

Prior to the Dialogue, Vice Minister Zhang and Ambassador Goetze held bilateral talks, exchanging views on furthering China-German agricultural cooperation.
