Vice Minister Ma Youxiang Attends 7th SCO Agriculture Ministerial Meeting

28 July 2022, China: The Chinese delegation led by Vice Minister Ma Youxiang attended the Seventh Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member Nations held in a hybrid modality in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on July 25, 2022.   

Vice Minister Ma pointed out that SCO member states have maintained steady growth in agricultural production against the backdrop of frequent extreme weather events, overall rising agricultural input prices, and a complex and changing international situation. Vice Minister Ma exchanged views with other participants on promoting agricultural development and safeguarding food security in the SCO region. He called on all member states to dovetail agricultural policies and mechanisms with each other, strengthen agricultural S&T and personnel exchanges, and further cooperation in agricultural trade and investment.   

The meeting approved documents including the concept of cooperation in smart agriculture and agrarian innovations among SCO member states and the Statement of the Seventh Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of SCO Member States.
