UPL Wins Esteemed Agrow Award for “Best Company From an Emerging Region”

05 November 2020, Mumbai, IN: As the world’s population grows larger and resources become scarcer, innovation and sustainable agriculture are now more important than ever. UPL received a distinguished Agrow Award in the category of ‘Best Company From an Emerging Region’ during the 14th annual IHS Markit Crop Science & Awards ceremony held virtually from London on November 4. IHS Markit is a leading provider of news, analyses and data for the global agriculture industry.

This prestigious award recognizes UPL as the company that has made the greatest contribution to the crop protection industry with headquarters outside of North America, Western Europe and Japan.

UPL was also recognized as a finalist during the 2020 awards in the following categories:

  • ‘Best Industry Collaboration’ for an alliance comprising UPL India, UPL Japan, Japan Agricultural Development and Extension Association (JADEA) and other companies to enhance farmers’ understanding of pesticide resistance in crops.
  • ‘Best Marketing Program’ for its digital communications in Indonesia.
  • ‘Best Stewardship Program’ for its UPspray app that enables farmers to gatherinformation on the safe and efficient use of crop protection products.
  • ‘Best New Biological Product’ for its Laminaria digitata-based biofungicide,Vacciplant.

UPL’s subsidiary company, Advanta Seeds, was also recognized as a finalist in the category of ‘Best new Crop Protection Category or Trait’ for its herbicide tolerance sorghum trait, igrowth.

The Agrow Awards are the premier global competition that honors top advancements in agriculture and best-in-class scientific, technological and leadership initiatives and showcase the future of the industry. Submissions are evaluated using a wide range of criteria by an independent judging panel consisting of global industry experts.
