The latest report of the Spain-India Council Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
12 February 2021, Spain: Seipasa, the Spanish company specialised in the development and formulation of bioinsecticides, biofungicides and biostimulants has been included in the latest report issued by the Spain-India Council Foundation that comes under the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.
The 2020 Spain-India Report comprises nine sectoral documents offering an extensive view of bilateral relations, aimed at boosting the ties between the two countries.
The work of Seipasa is mentioned in the report as a success story in relation to the research project undertaken in collaboration with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) for the development of a new botanical-based biopesticide.
This cooperation between Seipasa and the IARI forms part of the series of bio-technology projects in the field of agriculture and food, within the Indian-Spanish Innovation Programme, to promote technological and business cooperation between both countries in terms of initiatives for technological development, innovation and technology transfer. It forms part of the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), that comes under the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
The report highlights the fact that the “synergies and complementarities between the two organisations were key in implementing and developing the project”. The IARI provided the raw materials, technology and know-how, while Seipasa dealt with the planning and coordination of the project as well as preparing prototypes and defining marketing formulas and collaborating with the work carried out by the IARI.
The document adds that the technical cooperation between Seipasa and the IARI enabled them to successfully evaluate the phytosanitary potential of the botanical materials they were working on.
In one of its sections, the 2020 Spain-India report highlights the fact that this biotechnological collaboration has achieved a milestone in terms of exchanges between research centres, universities and Spanish and Indian companies and that through these programmes, new networks of bilateral alliances have been created in fields such as agriculture and food, among others.
