Selected from the winners of all the individual categories, this award is given to the farmer who, out of all these winners, impressed the judging panel the most – a role model for British farmers.

“This year has truly been like no other. No one could have predicted a global pandemic would be upon us,” said Commercial Director, Jon Tanner.

“British farmers have been integral in keeping our country moving, from a community level through to maintaining a consistent supply of food for the nation. They have achieved this whilst facing the everyday challenges of farming – often terrible weather conditions, impending policy changes, product revocations and more.

“Never has there been a timelier opportunity to champion our industry and those individuals who might believe ‘it’s just what they do’ but who have, in fact, gone above and beyond to make a difference.”

Due to coronavirus, the awards will take on a different format this year, streamed as online episodes hosted by Adam Henson. The five episodes will include entertaining highlights looking back at the year, performances, special guests and of course recognise the best of British farming.

Jon added: “There’s no denying that 2020 has been tough, and that’s off the back of a very difficult autumn 2019. So this means more to us than simply sponsoring an award.

“The challenges have felt relentless at times and many individuals and families have felt the strain. Undoubtedly there will be more bumps in the road as things change at a political level yet there remain many reasons to be positive.

“The past few months have proven that British farmers, growers and all involved in the food supply chain can overcome some incredibly bleak moments. We are very proud to support such a resilient industry and wish all involved a prosperous future.”

The Farmers Weekly Awards broadcasts will be taking place Sunday February 7 – Thursday February 11, 2021 at 6pm. View on YouTube, Facebook and IGTV.
