Sugar production increased by 42 percent
05 January 2020, New Delhi, IN: The country’s sugar production increased by 42 percent to 110.22 lakh tonnes on an annual basis during October-December 2020. Production has increased due to higher sugarcane production and early start of sugar mills in Maharashtra. The Chinese marketing year runs from October to September next year.

Installment of GST compensation issued to states
New Delhi: The Finance Ministry on Monday released the 10th weekly installment of Rs 6,000 crore under the GST indemnity item to the states. Thus, 60,000 crores has been released to the states so far under GST compensation. In the current financial year, the states are to be given Rs 1.10 lakh crore towards GST compensation.
