MARA Discusses Cooperation Mechanism with China Agricultural University

20 January 2021, China: Wang Xianzhong, Director of the Division of Asian Cooperation of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), led a team to China Agricultural University (CAU) on Jan. 12 to exchange information on the latest implementation of agricultural projects under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) mechanism. The meeting aimed to fully realize the role of the Lancang-Mekong Agricultural Cooperation Center, improve performance of LMC agricultural projects, and strengthen communication with agencies that implement these projects. Du Taisheng, Vice President of CAU, attended the meeting. Heads of the CAU International Cooperation Office, Research Office, College of Engineering and College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as experts and scholars from implementation teams also participated in the meeting.

The meeting focused on the progress of LMC agricultural projects and problems and difficulties confronted during the implementation. Wang expressed his appreciation to CAU for attaching great importance to Lancang-Mekong agricultural cooperation, and recognized its achievements. He made the following suggestions: 1) fully capitalize on CAU’s experience in international cooperation, and coordinate with CAU departments to assist China’s agricultural technologies and companies in going abroad; 2) focus on the development of industrial and supply chains; 3) enhance exchanges and cooperation among project teams; and 4) emphasize the promotion of accomplishments.

Both sides agreed to continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and make full use of their respective advantages to push forward projects during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
