Introducing Jamie Knight
17 February 2025, AU: Working in sales at Elders St George, Jamie Knight brings a fresh perspective and strong commitment to assisting clients with all aspects of their agricultural businesses. He has a particular interest in diving deeper into livestock operations.
Jamie grew up on his family’s farm outside Dirranbandi in southwest Queensland, which specialises in broadacre cropping, Merino sheep, and cattle. Agriculture is a way of life for the Knight family, passed down through four generations.
For Jamie, joining Elders last year felt like a full circle moment.
“My dad started out as a wool representative and eventually became the Queensland Wool Marketing Manager during his 10 years with Elders, so we often joke about how things have come full circle with me being here now,” Jamie said.
Jamie started at Elders in St George last year, eager to expand his knowledge and make a meaningful contribution to the industry which he believes has given him so much.
“Since joining, I’ve been focused on widening my understanding of the agricultural sector,” Jamie said.
“Finding ways to help other operators is important to me, though it’s been a steep learning curve.”
“I’ve learned so much from working in the shop, but being able to get out and deliver orders or lend a hand processing sheep or cattle has been a real eye-opener.”
While still exploring different areas of the business, Jamie has developed a growing interest in livestock operations.
“Livestock is something I’d like to dive deeper into; I really enjoy helping clients improve their livestock operations. Seeing the difference you can make, even in small ways, is incredibly rewarding,” Jamie said.
Building strong client relationships has been one of the most rewarding aspects of Jamie’s role so far.
“Getting to know your clients on a personal level is something I find really important. It takes time to build trust, and at Elders, trust is everything” he said.
“Whether it’s finding the best price on a pack of fence posts or getting the best deal in the cattle market, it all comes down to trust. That’s something I don’t take lightly.”
Support from Jamie’s branch manager, Georgie Speedy, and area manager, Lachie Radford, has been key in helping him transition smoothly into the role.
“Georgie and Lachie have both been great for my development, providing guidance and support during what was a big change in my life.
“I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of what Elders has to offer. I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I look forward to seeing how much I can accomplish in the next 12 months and beyond.”
