China Donates 200,000 Doses of Cattle Vaccines to Cambodia

22 December 2020, Beijing: The MARA donated 200,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease and hemorrhagic septicemia vaccines to Cambodia on Dec. 21, 2020 at the request of Cambodian side.  

The handover ceremony took place in Beijing. Vice Minister Zhang Taolin and H.E. Ms. Khek M Caimealy, Ambassador of Cambodia to China, addressed the donation ceremony which was presided over by Chief Agronomist Guang Defu.  

Vice Minister Zhang stated that China and Cambodia have always supported and helped each other since the establishment of China-Cambodia diplomatic relations, forging an ironclad friendship. As an integral part of China-Cambodia cooperation, agricultural cooperation has been expanded and enriched and agricultural trade has maintained double-digit growth in recent years. China and Cambodia have jointly developed agricultural parks featuring rice, banana, and pepper production. The donation of China’s animal vaccines to Cambodia signifies a new area in bilateral agricultural cooperation.

Vice Minister Zhang stated that China and Cambodia enjoy unique advantages, complementarities and great potential in agricultural cooperation. China is willing to look for areas where China’s strategies for agricultural development can dovetail with those of Cambodia. China stands ready to further R&D cooperation in rice breeding, animal vaccines, and disease control and boost investment in natural rubber, cassava, and livestock and poultry farming in Cambodia. China will push forward the establishment of demonstration parks for deep processing of farm products and tropical agriculture in Cambodia.   

Cambodian Ambassador to China expressed her gratitude to MARA for the donation, saying that Cambodia is ready to advance practical cooperation with China in various areas including agriculture for the building of an unbreakable China-Cambodia community with a shared future. 

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the representatives from corporate donors also attended the ceremony.
