- Highlights: New co-creation showcase projects, series of tech talks, latest applications and products
- BASF at Chinaplas 2022: C61, Hall 7.2, National Convention & Exhibition Center, Shanghai, China
13 February 2022, China: At CHINAPLAS 2022, BASF unlocks endless possibilities with innovative material solutions that improve energy efficiency, prolong product lifecycles, and enable recycling. In so doing, BASF is helping to reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink plastics. BASF will also introduce new co-creation projects, a series of tech talks and provide updates on the start-up of its polyamide plant at the BASF Zhanjiang Verbund Site in 2022.
As part of its plastics journey at CHINAPLAS 2022, BASF will showcase various sustainable solutions that empower the future together. Among the sustainable solutions to be shown at CHINAPLAS is the Elastopir® Blue PU rigid foam solution with a low lambda value (down to λD = 19 mW/m ∙K) that achieves exceptional standards of energy efficiency while at the same time is setting new standards for sandwich panels. Enabling recycling by improving the properties of recycled plastics is IrgaCycle™, a new range of additive solutions that can help increase the percentage of recycled content in several end-use applications such as packaging, automotive & mobility, and building and construction. These solutions address specific quality issues associated with recycled resins, such as limited processability, poor long-term thermal stability, and insufficient protection from outdoor weathering. A particular advantage of these blends lies in their ready-to-use product forms, which are easy to apply in the recycling steps. The granulated non-dusting product form ensures safe and easy dosage during converting or compounding of reclaimed material.
As part of ongoing efforts to drive innovation with leading-edge technologies, high-performance material solutions, and customer collaborations, BASF will showcase recently announced applications and products, including Hotter’s range of market-leading comfort shoes, Backrobo Wellness’ mattress topper, and Vimal Intertrades’ durable protective covering in diamond wire technology for cutting hard materials such as granite and marble.
BASF will also exhibit a new grade of Ultradur® polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) that enables more attractive branding on metallic lamp bezel surfaces of automotive headlamps. Additionally, various new applications made with Elastollan® Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) will be presented, including a Consumer Electronics toolkit with collections of wearables and mobile phone protective cases and a high-performance and sustainable drop-in solution for premium synthetic leather applications.
On display for the first time at Chinaplas will be the microcellular polyurethane elastomer Cellasto®, which is well-known for its superior noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) reduction. From spring elements and friction dampers to seals and end stops, Cellasto NVH properties extend from automotive to various industries, such as home appliances, power tools, elevators, and heavy equipment. BASF will also promote its polyarylethersulfone Ultrason® for high-performance E&E applications, as well as re-usable, stylish bottles and cups for hot and cold drinks made of Ultrason.
