ICAR-IIWBR Issues Advisory on Aphid Infestation in Wheat

11 March 2025, New Delhi: Farmers must remain vigilant against aphid infestations in wheat fields, warns the ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR), Karnal.

If the leaf aphid population exceeds the Economic Threshold Level (ETL) of 10-15 aphids per tiller, farmers should take immediate action. The recommended treatment is quinalphos 25EC (400 ml per acre), mixed with 200-250 liters of water and sprayed over the crop.

Regular field monitoring is essential to prevent severe infestations that can reduce grain quality and yield. Farmers are encouraged to act swiftly and consult local agricultural institutions if necessary.
