UPL Launches Atroforce Bionematicide Seed Treatment In Cotton
15 January 2024, USA: UPL has announced the launch of Atroforce bionematicide, a new seed treatment for use in cotton to protect yield potential from a broad number of nematodes.
Atroforce seed treatment, a biosolution applied to cotton seed by commercial seed treatment, leverages a patented strain of Trichoderma atroviride as its active ingredient. Trichoderma atroviride has bionematicide properties that effectively protect cotton plants from nematode pressure that can impact growth and leave them more susceptible to diseases and environmental stresses.
“Cotton growers are looking for new solutions to better protect their crops from damaging nematodes,” said Steve Sopher, technical service manager, South and East Coast for UPL. “The unique active ingredient in ATROFORCE bionematicide seed treatment helps cotton plants get a strong start, shielding them from nematodes with egg-killing activity that grows along with the plant’s roots, both inside and out as they develop, to provide extended protection.”
The bionematicide properties in ATROFORCE seed treatment minimize egg lay and reduce the populations of a broad number of nematodes including reniform and southern root-knot — key contributors to yield losses in many cotton fields — to promote healthier cotton plants with reduced root damage.
Atroforce seed treatment from UPL will be available for the 2025 season.
