Tropical Agro Launches New Insecticide Tag Stem-Lee for Paddy
Tag Stem-Lee offers control of stem borer and leaf folder in rice with low-dose application
08 April 2025, Chennai: Chennai-based Tropical Agrosystem (India) Pvt. Ltd. has launched a new granular insecticide named Tag Stem-Lee, specifically developed for protecting paddy crops. This is India’s first patented granular insecticide that combines three active ingredients — Thiamethoxam 1.25%, Fipronil 1.25%, and Chlorantraniliprole 0.60% WW GR — in a single formulation. The product is designed to effectively control two of the most damaging pests in paddy: stem borer and leaf folder.
Stem borer infestation in rice leads to two critical symptoms — ‘dead heart’ (dried main stem) during the vegetative stage and ‘white earhead’ (white panicles) during the reproductive stage. Studies show that even a 1% incidence of ‘dead heart’ can cause a yield loss of 0.3% (about 12 kg per hectare), while a 1% incidence of ‘white earhead’ can result in up to 4.2% loss (approximately 183 kg per hectare). Similarly, leaf folder infestation can cause yield losses ranging from 30% to 80%, making both pests a major threat to paddy productivity in India.
Effective Control Against Stem Borer and Leaf Folder with Just 2 Kg per Acre
Tag Stem-Lee has been developed to meet this pressing need for a reliable pest control solution. Its dual-action, triple-protection formula ensures comprehensive control against both stem borer and leaf folder at a low application rate of just 2 kg per acre. The product helps eliminate the symptoms of ‘dead heart’ and ‘white earhead’, ensuring lasting protection and stable crop yields. Its granular form also allows for easy broadcasting by mixing it with farmyard manure or sand. It is suitable for both Kharif and Rabi seasons.
