Thailand’s Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce cut agrochemical prices upto 35 percent
03 December 2021, Bangkok: The Commerce Ministry’s Internal Trade Department has collaborated with agrochemical importers and traders to reduce the prices of 74 agrochemical products by as much as 35% for three months, effective immediately.
Wattanasak Sur-iam, director-general of the Internal Trade Department, said the cooperation programme is scheduled to run from Nov 30 until Feb 28, 2022 and aims to help reduce production costs for farmers. The meeting was held with 22 importing and trading companies from three associations Thai Agro Business Association, Thai Crop Protection Association and Thai Agricultural Trade Innovation Association.
The prices of agrochemicals have risen and are expected to keep rising because China, the major producer has reduced production in compliance to carbon emission norms.
Product specific discounts have been negotiated which brings herbicides segment with a maximum discount of 22%; pesticides and insecticides with a discount of up to 26%; and plant herbicides with a discount of up to 35%.
